We'll start the repair by removing the idle air control valve, it's only attached with two torx screws.
I don't know if Fiat's engineers are geniuses or how they have managed to place the idle air control valve on such a convenient place. It's almost on the top of the engine, so it couldn't be much easier to reach it. On some other cars the idle air control valve is placed under the intake manifold so that it's almost impossible to reach it without taking some other parts off first. I'll first apply some WD-40 in the hole and then I'll wipe it clean with a cloth.
The idle air control valve's shaft needs to be cleaned too before putting it back in the hole. Then it's just to put the idle air control valve back in the hole and tighten the screws and the car idles perfectly again. That's it! It was a 5 minute job... just wondering how much they would have charged if I had taken her to a garage... |
